Moving dark energy and the CMB dipole

چکیده

We explore the possibility that the rest frames of CMB, matter and dark energy differ one from another, i.e. they do not converge on very large scales. In such a case, the usual interpretation of the CMB dipole as being due to the relative motion of the observer with respect to the CMB rest frame is not appropriate. Instead, we find that the measured dipole is due to the observer motion relative to the cosmic center of mass rest frame. This means, in particular, that even an observer at rest with respect to the CMB radiation could measure a non-vanishing dipole anisotropy, provided dark energy is moving with respect to the CMB. We also consider the consequences of moving dark energy for the determination of cosmic bulk flows. Moving dark energy and the CMB dipole 2

Dark energy in motion

Recent large-scale peculiar velocity surveys suggest that large matter volumes could be moving with appreciable velocity with respect to the CMB rest frame. If confirmed, such results could conflict with the Cosmological Principle according to which the matter and CMB rest frames should converge on very large scales. In this work we explore the possibility that such large scale bulk flows are d...

Dark energy rest frame and the CMB dipole

If dark energy can be described as a perfect fluid, then, apart from its equation of state relating energy density and pressure, we should also especify the corresponding rest frame. Since dark energy is typically decoupled from the rest of components of the universe, in principle such a frame could be different from that of matter and radiation. In this work we consider the potential observabl...

On the dark energy rest frame and the CMB

Dark energy is usually parametrized as a perfect fluid with negative pressure and a certain equation of state. Besides, it is supposed to interact very weakly with the rest of the components of the universe and, as a consequence, there is no reason to expect it to have the same large scale rest frame as matter and radiation. Thus, apart from its equation of state w and its energy density ΩDE on...

The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) consists of photons that were last created about 2 months after the Big Bang, and last scattered about 380,000 years after the Big Bang. The spectrum of the CMB is very close to a blackbody at 2.725 K, and upper limits on any deviations from of the CMB from a blackbody place strong constraints on energy transfer between the CMB and matter at all redshifts l...

Cosmology with moving dark energy and the CMB quadrupole

We study the consequences of a homogeneous dark energy fluid having a non-vanishing velocity with respect to the matter and radiation large-scale rest frames. We consider homogeneous anisotropic cosmological models with four fluids (baryons, radiation, dark matter and dark energy) whose velocities can differ from each other. Performing a perturbative calculation up to second order in the veloci...
